Another way to lower rates is to focus on how customer owned assets like smart thermostats, rooftop solar paired with batteries, and electric heat pumps can be aggregated and used to lower peak demand during times of grid stress. This along with utility scale wind and solar are what is needed to keep energy costs as low as possible.
At a minimum Indiana should start talking about, and vote YES for net metering.
This is rthe same group that gave the utilities a blank check to “experiment” at the expense of the customers. The utilities have no skin in the game when it comes to potenital losses. They should be in the same game as other industries where if the risk is successful they are reqarded, if the risk is unsuccessful then it is their loss and not that of the customer. How many years did we pay for the Marbel Hill Nuclear Plant debacle?
I do not know why everything is made to be so complicated. Fundamentally I should know how much I pay per kilowatt hour. But you know what that’s nowhere on my bill. I have to go and do a calculation or go through some gyrations on their website. Focus on consumer transparency.
