There is zero actual evidence that people are being paid to protest outside the Statehouse. It’s a ludicrous right-wing myth, stemming from a righteous disbelief that some — and sometimes many — people detest their policies enough to go out and protest. State lawmakers certainly should not be hastily writing legislation based on perceptions or beliefs that have no basis in fact.
+1
hey, where can I go to get paid to stand outside of the statehouse? Seriously, they really think that is happening? And spending my hard earned tax dollars trying to address something that is an urban legend? Great. Remind me again why I live here?
These Senators are incompetent. They’ll attend a lobbyists party and complain about paid protestors without any evidence, and they’ll ban a currently non-existent voting method because they know it’s so much better than our current method that a lawsuit might tell them they have to use it.
Talk about fake news. Someone claims that protestors are paid and that turns into legislation without any evidence. It’s crazy that our elected legislators are this gullible.
This might be meant to deter anarchists from coming here to, I don’t know, protest ICE or something – lest they get reported that they broke the law by not disclosing that the protesters are being paid by Soros, or whoever. Some people are professional protesters – as we saw down in Bloomington awhile ago. They provide professionally printed signs and come with bullhorns to lead their sheep in stupid chants.
Case in point – 1/6/2021 at our nation’s capitol.
Lmao I didn’t realize owning a bull horn and knowing how to use the free printers in the student union at IU makes me a professional anarchist. Very cool!
It has long been believed that Trump has used federal dollars to pay people to advocate on his behalf. JD Vance, Kristy Noem, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, RFK Jr., etc. etc…
This is driven by the DC Circus where the belief is everyone who has an opposing opinion must be paid!
