You would think Trump and Vance were involved as this is turning into a show similar to the U.S. and Iran negotiations.
Who would have thought that folks would be upset about raising taxes to pay for a stadium that won’t benefit them?
Well, Porter County, you can forego a regional asset that will benefit you in the long run to save $,06 on your Big Mac?? The model which funds Lucas Oil Stadium taxes restaurant sales 1% in Marion County. In surrounding counties, that same 1% is assessed except in Morgan County. Half of that revenue stays in the respective counties. You’re being penny wise and pound foolish.
How will this ‘regional asset’ benefit anybody but Bears ownership and a handful of business owners in the area? There have been numerous studies showing that taxpayer subsidized stadiums do not benefit the average citizen. I’ve been paying an extra 2% food and beverage tax in Marion County for over a decade to fund Lucas Oil. Where’s my discounted Colts and concert tickets? I reap absolutely no economic benefit from Lucas Oil stadium, and neither do 99% of other Marion and donut county residents. If you need the taxpayers to fund your $1B+ playpen, kick rocks. Take those public dollars and apply them to something meaningful, like fixing our third world roads.
