A Canadian real estate firm has purchased the former headquarters of Fundex Games Ltd. in Plainfield for about $3.7 million.

Dalfen American Corp. of Montreal bought the 110,000-square-foot building during an auction Wednesday, according to Key Auctioneers, which conducted the auction. The facility sits on 10.3 acres and includes 94,900 square feet of warehouse and 15,000 square feet of office space.

The building was sold as part of Fundex’s bankruptcy. Fundex, once the sole distributor of the game industry’s second-most-popular card game, Phase 10, folded late last year. Propel Equity Partners, parent of Plymouth, Mich.-based Poof-Slinky Inc., the maker of the iconic Slinky, paid $1.7 million to purchase Fundex in December.

The building technically was owned by 1570 S. Perry Road LLC, established by Fundex owner Chip Voigt and named for the building’s address. Fundex began occupying the building upon its completion in February 2007. The company signed a 21-year lease that was to expire in 2028, court records show.

Dalfen manages 11 million square feet of property in Canada and is expanding its holdings in the United States. In June, Dalfen purchased Shadeland Commerce Center, a 927,000-square-foot warehouse on Indianapolis' north-east side.
