  1. Pike knew they would lose even more students to Purdue Polytechnic. My son went there all 4 years. It was a great fit for him because it wasn’t your normal public school. They had very few actual classes. The kids with the help of their PCL set their schedule. There were no bells. There was maker space and music space and all kinds of other creative spaces and avenues for the kids to explore and use their creativity. PPHS is not for the faint of heart though. It is very rigorous and involves lots of online homework and doing projects. My son is Twice-Exceptional (gifted & ADHD) and low motivation. The teachers were great in helping him to stay on track. The kids are given lots of freedom in their schedule unless there is a need for more structure. So they cater to the kids needs. While they do meet the state standards of education of memorized regurgitation of information they wont use. They focus mostly on real life skills so that the kids actually can start a job in the real world. They also have field trips to companies they are doing their project on. One summer my son helped run a concession stand. Learning all aspects of buying, selling and a visit form the food safety department. But it’s not an easy school to graduate from either.
