  1. “The action leaves in place the Education Department’s $1.6 trillion student loan portfolio” – Ohhh yes, they can’t damage the income stream from student loans. Makes no sense to help people buried in student loan payments.

    1. You mean the party suggesting 15 year car loans and 50 year mortgages isn’t interested in helping people get out of debt?

  2. Give it a chance, most the existing programs have proven to not add to actual improved education.
    I’m impressed McMahon and staff could decipher all this in 9+ months. My disappointing realization working for government was that anywhere from 20-50% of federal funds were used to administer the programs. This approach may help reduce that waste and better educate those intended.

    1. States will take the money and cut their taxes in response. It’s what Indiana did with their Medicaid vouchers… why would education be different, given the “wider flexibility” will mean “no strings attached”.
