With no fault to the author, this article reads like an indecisive and lack of leadership community in need of a real plan. Does the town have a five year, or more, park department master development plan? Is there an urban design and/or comprehensive plan for the town? Not to mention a thoroughfare and transportation master plan? Plans can always be changed as needed, but without one this proposed park land needs much more than an amenity shopping list. The answer lies within the why’s, where’s, and when’s developed by the citizens, not just by independent and opposing council members.
This is one of the issues with a Town structure instead of a City. A Town has multiple mayors…the whole Town Council…and a town manager who works for the Council instead of a Mayor elected directly to and answerable to the citizens. A City has a mayor, who oversees the various departments that do what you’re talking about, and has to stand for election/reelection.
And importantly, it takes tax revenue to pay for all the planning and administration staff necessary to make things happen.

I think you need to review your history. You’re suggesting the former owner of IBJ is dead. He is not. Au contraire he is alive and well and it is his brother who was the Wrecks operator and is in fact deceased.
