Despite construction projects reducing access to the west and east ends of Georgia Street—the thoroughfare that links the Indiana Convention Center to Gainbridge Fieldhouse—WNBA All-Star 2025 Host Committee Chair Mel Raines says Indianapolis is ready to host a sparkling party for the best women’s basketball players in the world.
“We’re sort of surrounded by dust right now, but cranes are progress,” said Raines, referring to construction of the Signia Hotel at Pan Am Plaza and the recent demolition of a CSX railroad servicing building to make way for a hotel and concert venue at the intersection of Pennsylvania and Georgia streets.
Indianapolis will host the WNBA All-Star Game for the first time, marking an upswing in fortunes for the hometown Indiana Fever since the additions of top draft picks Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark.
“After having some rough seasons, we’re able to have the best players in the world come here and show them our city,” Raines said. “And not just when they’re playing against us, but we’re hosting them and rolling out the orange carpet. Taking good care of their family and their loved ones and their friends is something that was important to us.”
Here’s a look at the official events planned for WNBA All-Star Weekend:
