The Lilly Endowment is paving the way for the renovation of a 40,000-square-foot vacant factory in the Garfield Park area into artist studios, performance spaces, a public cafe and more.
What would happen if, say, a playwright, a video artist, a sculptor and a musician got together for a few weeks to try to create something without concern about who would see the final product … or even if there were a final product?
The not-for-profit co-working organization is using a new grant to fund “Arts and Entrepreneurship” programming, and it’s opening an outpost at the arts-focused Tube Factory.
The not-for-profit is set to unveil its sound-art venue Listen Hear on Shelby Street and the Tube Factory art space less than a block away near Garfield Park.
The arts-focused Big Car Collaborative, birthed in Fountain Square in 2004 and most recently headquartered at Lafayette Square Mall, has found a permanent place to park on Indianapolis’ south side.
