Man jumps 40 feet, ending police chase

November 6, 2009

A traffic stop for a seat-belt violation yesterday afternoon led to a chase and a 40-foot fall. Richard Stedman, 44, was pulled
over in Plainfield because one of his two passengers wasnâ??t buckled in, according to police. After his passengers got out
of the car, Stedman took off, leading police onto Interstate 70 at speeds close to 100 mph. The car chase ended at Indianapolis
International Airport when Stedman hit a retaining wall at the arrival ramp, got out of the vehicle and jumped over the wall.
Stedman, who has outstanding warrants for burglary and receiving stolen property, was taken to Wishard Hospital with serious
injuries.

Counties wanting to speed traffic among suburbs are building highways to avoid having to travel into Indianapolis. The result,
a 100-mile outer loop beyond Interstate 465, won’t be completed for years, and it won’t be built to consistent standards,

from Klipsch and are planning a
2010 launch.
