Body found in Carmel storage unit

A woman’s body was discovered Thursday in a storage unit in Carmel. Police say the body was found in the driver’s seat of a car inside the unit in the 1000 block of North Rangeline Road. The woman is believed to have been there since March. Police are investigating the cause of death, but say there is evidence of suicide.

Carmel police are seeking two suspects in an armed robbery of the Forum Credit Union in Carmel on Monday. The men, wearing masks, entered the credit union at 2259 E. 116th St., about 9:30 a.m. and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. They fled in a yellow Chevrolet Cobalt that was found abandoned near 116th Street and Keystone Avenue.

Three arrested for Carmel vehicle theft

Carmel police arrested three Indianapolis teenagers accused of stealing a vehicle early Thursday morning. Two of the teens were taken into custody after they were found in a stolen truck near Main Street and Keystone Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. The other suspect was found hiding behind a dumpster at the McDonald’s at Keystone and Carmel Drive. James Lomonn Moore, 19, and William Devante Boone, 18, were arrested on theft charges. A 17-year-old faces theft charges and an additional charge for possession of a handgun without a license.
 

Carmel-Clay narrows superintendent search

Officials in the Carmel-Clay Schools district have whittled the list of superintendent candidates to three. The candidates, announced at a board meeting Monday, are Eric Ban, former principal at Crown Point High School; Bruce Hibbard, superintendent of New Albany-Floyd County Schools in southern Indiana; and Mary Ann Dewan, who has held high-ranking positions in the Wayne Township district. Public forums are set for this week, and the school board hopes to make a decision in the next month.

Boy nabbed after Carmel car theft, chase

A 14-year-old boy was arrested early Tuesday morning after he allegedly stole a car and led police on a chase in Carmel. Police say the boy took an unlocked and running Hyundai Sonata parked in the 1200 block of Golfview Drive at about 6 a.m. Police saw the car near Rangeline Road and 126th Street and gave chase. The suspect drove into a dead-end road and flipped the vehicle onto its side. He fled on foot but was caught with help from a police dog.

Geico service center to create up to 1,200 jobs in Carmel

The insurer will invest millions to lease, renovate and equip a 109,000-square-foot customer service center at 101 W. 103rd St. It plans to begin hiring immediately, and bring up to 1,200 new jobs by 2016.

Carmel police shoot armed man

March 18, 2013

Carmel police shot a 25-year-old man early Monday morning after he allegedly made threats to his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend. Aaron David, 25, was shot about 3:15 a.m. in a neighborhood near 96th Street and Ditch Road. He was taken to the hospital for surgery and is expected to live, officials said. Police said they opened fire on David after he ignored their commands and displayed a handgun.
