Witnesses told police the shots came from a man in the front passenger seat of a gold Chrysler parked on Concord Street.
Garfield Park pool is expected to reopen Wednesday, according to Indy Parks. The pool had been closed since June 21 after dozens of people were taken to the hospital following a chemical incident. Indy Parks said two inspection reports suggest operator error triggered a chain of events that allowed sodium hypochlorite solution and hydrochloric acid to combine, resulting in an abundant production of chlorine gas. The gas led many to experience vomiting, coughing, sore throats and watery eyes.

The Indianapolis Early Music Festival has been around a long time—46 years. But not nearly as long as the tunes it plays, which can go back to the year 900. This year’s festival, already in progress, includes Gut, Wind & Wire and The Catatoustic Consort June 29 (and a free family concert June 30); East of the River July 1; Vittorio Gheilmi and Luca Pianca July 13; and Hesperus, whose July 14 performance accompanies a screening of the Douglas Fairbanks film “Robin Hood.” Details here.

Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre revives its passionate production of the Victor Hugo classic. Expect a big cast and equally big emotions. Details here.
July 2-4
Conner Prairie
I won’t bother telling you again that the 1812 Overture historically has nothing to do with Independence Day. Instead, I’ll just warn you again to plan for construction issues along Allisonville Road and to get to Conner Prairie in plenty of time to select a spot, set up your picnic, and enjoy the annual holiday concert by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, led by Alfred Savia. Baritone (and IU grad) Daniel Narducci, who recently sang the Captain Hook role for a new recording of Leonard Bernstein’s “Peter Pan,” is guest vocalist.
Not feeling patriotic this week? Then cross the musical pond (while still at Conner Prairie) June 29-30 for The Music of Queen. Details on both concerts here.
