Indianapolis police officer Ryan Archer suffered serious injuries after his squad car was struck by a hit-and-run driver early Tuesday morning. The accident happened at 46th Street and Emerson Avenue on the east side at about 3:30 a.m. Archer was taken to Wishard Hospital to treat his legs and head. His car was totaled. Police captured a suspect about eight blocks from the crash. He was taken to the hospital with police-dog bites suffered while being apprehended.
A man was shot during a domestic dispute in Lebanon at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Lafayette Avenue. Michael Ladd, 34, was shot twice and taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with life-threatening injuries. Lebanon police believe Ladd's live-in girlfriend, Danyale Short, 35, shot him. Short, who fled the scene, was tracked down and taken in for questioning, and later released pending further investigation.
Police have arrested an Indianapolis man for the murders of a Greenwood couple. Justin Carter, 28, was arrested Monday night on two charges of murder and one charge of robbery in the deaths of Steve Konchinsky, 57, and Julie Konchinsky, 54. The two were shot to death in their home Saturday. Police said they believe Carter also robbed a Center Grove Fifth Third Bank branch on Monday afternoon.
