On a seasonally adjusted basis, the pace of mortgage loan activity decreased 6.5 percent for the week ended Feb. 25, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. The rate for 30-year mortgages decreased to 4.84 percent from 5 percent the previous week. The rate for 15-year mortgages decreased to 4.17 percent from 4.28 percent.

Teen dies in apparent game of ‘chicken’
Indianapolis police said 13-year-old Hadleigh Cave has died from her injuries after being struck by a car late Friday night on the southeast side. Police say the girl, along with three other teenagers, had apparently been playing a game of “chicken” near Franklin and Thompson roads by darting in front of passing vehicles. The driver who struck Cave drove away from the scene, the other children said.
Person shot in Mexican eatery
Indianapolis police are searching for the person who shot a man inside a Mexican restaurant early Monday morning. The victim was playing pool inside La Favorita at 71st Street and Michigan Road when a shooter opened fire through a window, hitting the man at least three times in the arm and leg. The victim was taken to the hospital but was expected to survive. Police said they have no suspects.
Driver crashes after four-county chase
A driver led Indianapolis police on a four-county, high-speed chase early Monday morning. Police tried pulling over a man driving a red car with Florida plates just after midnight near Bluff Road and Troy Avenue, but he led them on a chase down State Road 37 into Johnson, Morgan and Monroe counties. He eventually was apprehended by a police dog after crashing and trying to flee the scene on foot. The driver, who has multiple outstanding warrants on record, was taken to a Bloomington hospital with dog bites.
