Part of downtown New Castle was closed Monday after a buildup of snow and ice caused a building’s roof to collapse and three adjacent structures to buckle and shift. A building housing Three Rivers Solid Waste Management District on Broad Street suffered the most damage. Engineers are studying whether the buildings will need to be demolished or can be saved.
 

A former Hancock County sheriff's deputy will spend two weeks in jail for driving drunk while on duty. Michael Robinson, 35, was arrested in December. His blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit when he got into an accident about 9:30 in the morning, more than three hours into his shift. After serving jail time, Robinson will serve the rest of the year on probation.
 

Owners of iced-in cars near downtown Indianapolis ticketed during last week’s winter storm have gotten a reprieve. The city announced Monday that all parking citations issued for overtime meters on Tuesday and Wednesday last week have been voided. Those who have already paid their tickets can expect to receive refunds in a few weeks.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the pace of mortgage loan activity increased 11.3 percent for the week ended Jan. 28, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. The rate for 30-year mortgages increased to 4.81 percent from 4.80 percent the previous week. The rate for 15-year mortgages increased to 4.13 percent from 4.12 percent.

-CVS Pharmacy leased 6,787 square feet at 175 N. Illinois St.. The tenant was represented by Ron Foster of Echelon Realty Advisors. The landlord, MT Acquisitions LLC, was represented by Dave Moore, Darrin Boyd and Allison Tiefel of Cassidy Turley.  

-C-2 Supply leased 6,000 square feet of space at Circle City Industrial Complex, 1125 Brookside Ave. The landlord, National Bank of Indianapolis, was represented by Conrad Jacobs and Ralph Balber of Newmark Knight Frank Halakar. The tenant represented itself.

The buyer was represented by Chris Hake and Tony Orlando of Thompson Thrift. The seller, Kincaid Holdings LLC, represented itself.

-MJT Management bought three-quarters of an acre at the southeast corner of Southport Road and Rampart Drive in front of a Meijer store. The price was not disclosed. The buyer, which plans to build a Rally’s restaurant on the site, was represented by Chris Hake of Thompson Thrift. The seller, Meijer Stores Limited, represented itself.
