A weekend fire forced firefighters to dodge bullets, after the blaze ignited ammunition left behind from a shooting. The fire
broke out about 11 p.m. Saturday in a home in the 3500 block of North Leland Avenue on Indianapolisâ?? east side. Fire crews
say that when they arrived, the ammunition, believed to be from a shooting earlier in the day, began to explode. No firefighters
were hurt. A male shooting victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. An investigation is under way to see if
the two incidents are connected.
Police are looking for a gunman who shot a 17-year-old boy in his home just before 2 p.m. Sunday in the 4700 block of Munter
Lane on Indianapolisâ?? east side. The teen said he was heading back into the house from his backyard when the gunman followed
him inside the home and opened fire. One of the bullets hit him in the shoulder. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
