Three die in crash near Anderson

March 11, 2013

Three people were killed and three others injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon east of Anderson. Investigators believe the sport-utility vehicle was speeding south on County Road 600 West near Daleville about 4 p.m. when the driver hit a rise in the road and lost control. The SUV became airborne, struck a retaining wall, and flipped for a couple of hundred feet before stopping. Killed in the crash were driver Lisa Case, 46, of Anderson, and passengers Kent Kalley, 46, and Andrew Lackey, 12, both of Yorktown. The three other passengers, all 13, were in stable condition.

Greenwood police say thieves are breaking into cars during broad daylight and taking valuables. The break-ins are occurring outside of businesses on State Road 135. Police said the thieves break car windows and takes purses, lottery tickets or anything left out in the open that can be grabbed quickly.

Murder suspect shoots himself in head

March 8, 2013

After a standoff at a Lawrence hotel that lasted nearly six hours, a murder suspect was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday night with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Police cornered 41-year-old Brian Fegley about noon at the Value Place Hotel near 82nd and Shadeland Avenue. Fegley was accused of a shooting that killed Eli McAfee, 33, at the Free Spirit Lounge in Castleton earlier in the day.
