Frontier Airlines may seek a marketing agreement with a major carrier as industry collaboration continues, said Bryan Bedford, chief executive of Indianapolis-based parent company Republic Airways Holdings Inc.

Burn bans remain in effect

October 11, 2010

Sunday was a record-setting day for Indianapolis with temperatures reaching 88 degrees, and parts of the state are on track to break more records Monday. With these unseasonably warm temperatures comes an increased danger for fire. The National Weather Service canceled a fire watch for Monday, but local officials say that cancellation does not affect the burn bans currently in effect. Currently, 69 counties are under burn bans.

Police continue search for shooter

October 11, 2010

Police are still looking for suspects in the shooting of an IMPD officer early Sunday morning near the Club Level night spot at 126 N. Delaware St. Officer Kerry Morse was off-duty at the time of the shooting, working security at the club. The 39-year-old, a 4-1/2-year police veteran, was transported to Wishard Hospital, where he is listed in good condition. Investigators took several people involved in a fight related to the shooting into custody for questioning, but have made no arrests.

East-side blaze injures two firefighters

An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer responded to an alarm from an east-side home early Monday morning to find the house next door on fire. Smoke from the fire at the home near 32nd Street and Arlington Avenue slowly crept into the neighboring building and set off the alarm, according to an Indianapolis Fire Department official. Two firefighters were slightly injured while fighting the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

City Securities snares veteran stockbroker from competitor

L. Gene Tanner has left PNC Investments to join City Securities Corp. The veteran stockbroker who began his career with the former Raffensperger Hughes firm in 1958 said he has returned to familiar territory.

Developer of Binford Medical Complex files for Chapter 11

The developer of an unfinished medical office complex on Binford Boulevard has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in hopes it can retain control of the property and resume construction later this year.
