Renters attacked in Castleton apartment

Police are looking for two armed men who broke into a unit at Lakeshore Apartments in Castleton early this morning, then took
off with two other men in a maroon Ford Expedition. Police say men wearing black hoodies and carrying handguns broke into
the apartment at about 12:30 a.m. and ordered about five people there to the floor. One of the suspects hit a man in the head
with a gun. The intruders left in a panic after the break-in and nothing was stolen, police say. Fox59 will have more at 4
p.m.

Man attacked for smoking at boarding house

A quarrel over smoking left a south-side Indianapolis man with a broken jaw and eyesocket. Gary Biggerstaf said he was smoking
Wednesday night in a kitchen he shares at a boarding house at 1872 South Shelby Street when his new neighbor, Fred Robison,
told him to put out the cigarette. Biggerstaf said Robison, 28, began to beat him when he refused. Robison told police he
was defending himself from Biggerstaf.

Mold hurting evidence at crime scenes

An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department pilot program meant to help officers collect DNA evidence off guns appears
to be an initial bust. Mold spores growing on swabs used in the program made the majority of them useless as court evidence.
The 20-month program ended in March. The 183 guns were swabbed with the prototype swabs, but 141 came back with mold. Fox59
will have more at 4 p.m.

Indy water expected to taste better in week

More complaints are pouring in about the taste of Indianapolis' water. Boats loaded with chemicals are being sent to the
Prairie Creek Reservoir, which connects to the White River. Prairie Creek is in Delaware County, outside of Muncie. Indiana
American Water hopes algaecide will eliminate a rare early-season algae bloom that's affecting the water supply in Indianapolis
and Muncie. Water officials say the water is safe to drink, despite a musty taste.
