Indianapolis police are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred on the city’s west side early Wednesday morning. The bodies of Jonathan Ogden, 43, and Veronica Bailey, 40,  were found in the front yard of a home in the 1300 block of South Worth Avenue about 12:30 a.m. Investigators said the two were not married but had lived together for more than 20 years. The couple had been arguing prior to the shooting and had a history of domestic disputes.

Two vans carrying at least eight passengers crashed Wednesday morning in Madison County, injuring at least six people, including several children—one of whom was ejected from a vehicle. The accident happened at the intersection of county roads 300 South and 500 West near Lapel about 7:30 a.m. when one van ran a stop sign. Two adults and four children were inside one van and at least two passengers were in the other vehicle. Two passengers were airlifted to Methodist Hospital and others were taken by ambulance to area hospitals.
 

A new study shows traffic collisions involving bicycles are on the rise in Indiana. Conducted by the Indiana University Center for Criminal Justice Research, the study found a 7-percent increase in cyclists involved in traffic collisions from 2009 to 2010. The number of fatalities associated with a bicycle crashes increased from seven in 2009 to 14 in 2010, and the number of serious injuries increased from 64 to 81 over the same period. The study was conducted on behalf of Bicycle Indiana, a statewide not-for-profit organization that promotes safe bicycling.

A Noblesville family and six horses escaped harm during a fire that destroyed two barns on family’s property. Firefighters responded to the fire in the 16800 block of Hazel Dell Road about 7:20 p.m. Monday. By the time they arrived, one barn was fully engulfed in flames and the other was 50-percent consumed. The owners, Norman and Peggy Mindrebo, were home at the time and able to get six horses safely out of the pasture. Officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze.

The death of a Greenwood woman was ruled a homicide Tuesday by the Johnson County coroner. Michelle Andrews, 45, died from blunt-force trauma, autopsy results found. Andrews was found dead by a friend Saturday night in her apartment at the Stonehedge Apartments, near County Line Road and State Road 135. Police say they are pursuing leads in the case.
