The second woman to serve on the Indiana Supreme Court is set to be publicly sworn in as a justice.

Justice Loretta Rush has been serving on the court since last month, but the formal oath ceremony is scheduled for Friday morning at the Statehouse.

Gov. Mitch Daniels will administer the oath of office to the former Tippecanoe County judge, whom he picked in September to replace Justice Frank Sullivan Jr. Sullivan stepped down in July after 19 years as a justice.

The one-hour "robing" ceremony will include remarks by former Justice Myra Selby, the first woman on the court. Selby stepped down in 1999 after five years.

Chief Justice Brent Dickson administered a private oath on Nov. 7 so Rush could begin her court duties
