Businesses, residents and some not-for-profits in 19 Indiana counties recovering from the November tornado outbreak can receive low-interest federal disaster loans.
The governor's office said the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved the loan program. Word of the loans comes after the Federal Emergency Management Agency denied federal aid for Boone, Daviess, Fountain, Grant, Howard and Tippecanoe counties, the areas hit hardest by the Nov. 17 tornadoes.
Disaster loan outreach centers will be established in Daviess, Fountain and Howard counties. Those counties and neighboring ones are eligible for the program. Loan applications are available at the centers or online at http://www.sba.gov/.
The deadline to file applications over damage to personal or business property is April 7. Applications for loans to assist with financial damages are due Nov. 5.
