As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowGreen BEAN Delivery is making a push into eight more cities, the Indianapolis-based grocery-delivery service announced Wednesday.
Starting March 10, Green BEAN will offer service in Shelbyville, Greensburg and Marion in Indiana; in Shelbyville, Frankfort and Georgetown in Kentucky; in Washington, Missouri; and in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The expansion marks the first time Green BEAN has added more than one metropolitan market at a time to its growing service territory. The expansion will boost the number of Green BEAN metro markets from 16 to 24 in one move.
Through those metro markets, Green BEAN is able to offer service to hundreds of communities through its six distribution hubs in Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Louisville, St. Louis, Nashville and Columbus, Ohio.
Green BEAN, founded in 2007, provides membership-based grocery delivery services to customers in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee. For a fee, subscribers can order food online and receive a plastic bin containing everything from organic tomatoes to organic root beer. The service is one of four interrelated entities under the locally based umbrella company Bean LLC.
Green BEAN revenue reached $15 million in 2014 and was on pace to grow 10 percent to 20 percent in 2015, CEO Matt Ewer told IBJ in August. The company employs about 200 and opened a $3.8 million warehouse and headquarters last year near the Interstate 70-Emerson Avenue exchange.
