“Exibhit Indiana,” at www.exibhitindiana.com, will promote the state’s leadership in the use of health information technology to improve patient care, BioCrossroads announced today.
The initiative is expected to boost health-IT applications in the state and potentially grab a share of federal incentives in the area. More than $35 billion has been carved out for making greater use of health IT under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Indiana has five health information exchanges statewide that each month exchange 6.3 million messages and involve 12 million patient records.
J. Marc Overhage, who heads the locally based Indiana Health Information Exchange, a pioneer in the field, recently was named to a health IT standards committee of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
BioCrossroads said it wants Exibhit Indiana to “serve as a national model for national [health-IT] standards, products, devices and exchanges.”
