The proposed increase for the Maurer School of Law would see in-state tuition grow to $24,000 a year.
Law school Dean Lauren Robel blames the tuition hike on a downturn in the school’s endowment, a lack of state funding increases and growing expenses. Even with the increase, IU’s law tuition would less than most others in the Big Ten.
IU’s law school in Indianapolis says tuition there is expected to increase about 8 percent. IU also plans to increase graduate tuition for business programs by 15.4 percent and education by 7.9 percent. The proposed undergraduate increase is 4.6 percent.
