When you have a fossil (mentally more than chronologically) in charge at the White House what can you expect other than a “retro solution” (read obsolete) … to keep the crisis of a pandemic in play … to strengthen the federal governments grip … to keep as many Americans as possible … dependent on … the federal government. “Estimated prices for at-homes tests in the U.S. now range from about $15 to $30, compared to about $1 in Germany.” … So we are currently paying 15 to 30X what Germans pay for a rapid test … and we are going to saddle insurance companies with loads of reimbursement paperwork that will cost more than the tests, especially if the cost of U.S. tests come down, which we know is possible based on the status of testing in Germany. Get the federal government, insurance companies, and all their lobbyists out of this equation! BTW, we do not have “health care/insurance” in this country … we have “medical care (often 11th hour ’emergency’) / insurance” … that often chimes in when patients have massive health failures. Very little emphasis on diet/nutrition/exercise/proven positive health habits. Do the research on how many hours of nutrition/diet/exercise schooling a doctor takes over 8 to 10 years of education. It is a pittance compared to the rest of the curriculum … that is much more targeted towards expensive “health emergency” procedures and “pharmaceutical treatments” (also very expensive) rather than counseling/coaching/training patients on how to live a healthy lifestyle. Joe’s retro approach is nothing more than a national train-wreck!
The difference between the US and Germany, is while Germany has a health care system, the US has a health care INDUSTRY.
Every part of the system is designed to make profit from those of us that are lucky enough to afford health insurance. Who cares about everyone else, or if you care about everyone else, then you are stuck with a system that uses paper and after the fact reimbursement.
The easiest path will be to log into your insurance carrier’s member portal and click to order a test. If you don’t have access online, call members services on the back of your card and order one.
