The only chance Democrats have is that Republicans stick with Morales.
Republican leadership clearly has run internal polling and figured out what most everyone knew in early 2022 – Diego is out of his depth holding elected office. Given Morales’ record of ineptitude and grift during his four years which is so voluminous that the biggest issue for Democrats is to figure out what NOT to include, struggle to there’s now substantial risk Republicans lose the election if they keep him on the ballot. And Diego is clueless enough that he’s going to make it hard on them, just like Curtis Hill before him.
Republicans are going to dispose of Morales at their convention, nominate whomever Banks is pushing, and win a boring race by 10%.
The fix for this nonsense isn’t closed primaries, it’s open primaries. Republican delegates are, like Diego, not qualified for the task in front of them. Nor Republican legislators who should have impeached him four years ago when it became clear he was guilty of illegal voting …
