No one wants her, for good reason.
Just being a cute thing in a driver’s suit doesn’t really pay the bills. Somewhat insulting to IndyCar that this is her consolation prize.
It appears to be working for her. For a fair number of sponsors of both women and men, immediate results aren’t required.
Look, she appears to be a good enough driver to get competent with time.
The difficulty is that she’s now racing against people who’ve been racing formula cars for years, and she can’t just go somewhere and pound out 25 hours a week in the car like folks got to do 30 years ago. The last half second to move from competent to competitive is what’s really hard.
Look at Jimmie Johnson. He couldn’t overcome a similar gap in IndyCar on a road course. When he got to a short oval (Iowa), a type of circuit that enabled him to overcome that experience gap, he was very competitive and scored his best career finish.
