This week, IBJ Media unveiled our fourth annual list of the 250 most influential business and community leaders in the state of Indiana. The Indiana 250 magazine included with this week’s print edition of the Indianapolis Business Journal showcases our carefully curated annual list of the most influential and impactful leaders across Indiana’s business, nonprofit, philanthropic, legal, education, arts and governmental sectors.

The Indiana 250 is a snapshot of those bold thinkers and doers who are shaping the future of our state—from large-company CEOs and innovative entrepreneurs to dedicated community advocates. Through community building, economic development and civic engagement, these leaders are improving the lives of Hoosiers and inspiring the next generation of Hoosier leaders.

Plenty of familiar names are returning: Eli Lilly and Co. Chair and CEO David Ricks, who Time magazine put on its list of The 100 Most Influential People of 2024. Elevance Health President and CEO Gail Boudreaux, and Cummins Chair and CEO Jennifer Rumsey—two of the most powerful female leaders in the country—are on the list. So, too, are executives who are making as big of an impact in the community as they are on their organizations, including Pete Yonkman of Cook Group, Justin Christian of BCforward and Lisa Harris of Eskenazi Health.

New to the list this year are more than 60 leaders who are driving meaningful change across Indiana, including corporate executives like Stan Pinegar of Duke Energy Indiana, Karin Sarratt of OneAmerica Financial and Al London, who is set to become CEO of the planned Generations Community Bank, as well as nonprofit and philanthropic leaders Maureen Weber of Early Learning Indiana, Jamie Merisotis of the Lumina Foundation and John Urbahns of Greater Fort Wayne Inc. And we welcome new government leaders, such as Indiana Health and Family Services Secretary Gloria Sachdev, Energy and Natural Resources Secretary Suzanne Jaworowski and Commerce Secretary David J. Adams.

Sports played a bigger role in this year’s Indiana 250 given the successful year of many Indiana teams, as well as the ever-growing role of sports in economic development. New to the list are University of Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman, Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton, Indy Pro Volleyball co-owner Jim Schumacher, Indiana Sports Corp. President Patrick Talty, NCAA Vice President JoAn Scott, Catch the Stars Foundation founder Tamika Catchings and Indianapolis Indians President and CEO Randy Lewandowski.

Our Indiana 250 program is part of IBJ Media’s larger effort to cover business and community across Indiana through our Inside INdiana Business television, radio and online coverage and through The Indiana Lawyer, which covers the legal community statewide. In addition, our rebranded statewide event series, Innovate Indiana, brings regional leaders together to hear from key state leaders and to coordinate efforts around economic development. We’ve already visited Evansville and Valparaiso and have upcoming events in Terre Haute on July 31, Muncie on Sept. 17, South Bend/Elkhart on Oct. 14, and Fort Wayne on Nov. 18. Go to IBJ.com/events to learn more.

We celebrated the leaders on our Indiana 250 list at an exclusive reception on July 23 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, an event made possible with the support of our host sponsors, the museum and Penske Entertainment. Thank you to our title sponsors, Aaron Wealth Advisors, CareSource, Ice Miller and Pacers Sports & Entertainment; our premier sponsor, Lucas Oil Products; and underwriting sponsors, The Corydon Group and EXOS.•
