Nobody shone brighter in 2024 than Caitlin Clark, whose popularity nearly overwhelmed the WNBA. (AP photo)

The popularity of Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever has prompted yet another WNBA team to move a game to a much larger arena.

The Dallas Wings on Wednesday said the team’s home game against the Fever scheduled for June 27 is being moved from the 7,000-seat College Park Center to the 20,000-seat American Airlines Center. It will be the first time other than the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic season that the Wings will play a home game away from College Park Center.

Dallas joins three other WNBA teams who have rescheduled home games to larger arenas for the Fever this season for a total of six games. At least two other teams included home games at larger venues for their games against the Fever on their original schedule.

  • The Atlanta Dream moved a May 22 game against the Fever from Gateway Center Arena (capacity 3,500) to State Farm Arena (capacity 19,050).
  • The Washington Mystics moved home games scheduled for May 28 and Sept. 7 from CareFirst Arena (4,200) to CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore (13,300).
  • The Chicago Sky will play home games against the Fever at the United Center (20,000-plus capacity) on June 7 and July 27 instead of Wintrust Arena (10,387). Tickets for the June 7 game sold out almost immediately.
  • The Connecticut Sun and Las Vegas Aces were already prepared to play the Fever at larger venues when they announced their regular schedule. The Sun will play a July 15 game at TD Garden in Boston (19,580) instead of Mohegan Sun Arena (10,000) in Uncasville, Connecticut. The Aces will play a June 22 game at T-Mobile Arena (20,000) instead of Michelob Ultra Arena (12,000).
