A pre-cast concrete business plans to spend $1.5 million to revamp its operations in Whitestown and create 39 jobs by 2021.

Sanders Pre-Cast Concrete Systems Inc. is in the midst of renovating and equipping two buildings totalling 175,000 square feet in Whitestown, allowing the company to produce large insulated warehouse walls, owner Mark Sanders told IBJ on Friday.

The company, which currently employs about 50 workers, began renovations in late 2016 and expects to begin operations this month. It hopes to begin shipping products and providing on-site installations in March and April.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has pledged up to $175,000 in tax credits and $29,000 in training grants based on the firm's job creation plans. The incentives are performance-based, meaning they cannot be claimed until workers have been hired.

The city of Whitestown has approved a tax abatement for Sanders, according to the firm.

Founded in 1997, Sanders is a designer, manufacturer and developer of pre-cast concrete, which can be used for three-sided arch bridge structures, box culverts, hollow core walls and sound barriers, for example. The firm currently is hiring for CAD designers, estimators, engineers and laborers.

Gov. Eric Holcomb said in a IEDC press release that Sanders "has been helping build the infrastructure our growing economy demands for nearly two decades."
