His last day will be Friday. The Governor’s Office did not provide IBJ with a reason for his departure.
Beth Green, the department’s general counsel, will lead in the interim.
Former Gov. Eric Holcomb appointed Paulk as DWD head in May 2023 after he served as the agency’s chief administrative officer for five months. He succeeded David Adams, who is now Indiana’s secretary of commerce.
Prior to his time in state government, Paulk was the chief financial officer for Chicago Rising, a nonprofit focused on employment opportunities for ex-offenders. He also held several leadership positions at a handful of companies, including as founder and CEO of a health care valuation firm.
IBJ was unable to reach Paulk at his office or on his cellphone for comment.
