Smashburger plans Westfield restaurant, its first in Indiana

Smashburger is coming to Westfield. The Denver-based burger joint is set to occupy 1,700 square feet in Cool Creek Commons on East 146th Street, between Gray Road and U.S. 31.

The “fast casual” burger restaurant will replace the Radio Shack in the retail center, which includes The Fresh Market, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dunkin' Donuts, Chipotle, PNC Bank, Stein Mart, Beauty Brands and McAlister’s Deli.

The Westfield location will be the first in Indiana. The nearest locations are in Ohio and Illinois.

The menu includes classic and specialty burgers such as BBQ, bacon and cheddar or spicy jalapeno baja and several bun options like multi-grain and egg. Chicken sandwiches, salads, fries, fried pickles, fried banana rings and milkshakes also are offered.

A small seating area will be available for dine-in customers.

Rick Schaden and Tom Ryan opened the first Smashburger in 2007 in Denver. It now has restaurants in 32 states and five countries.

Schaden, CEO of Consumer Capital Partners, also helped open Tom’s Urban in Denver, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and Live Basil Pizza, which has several locations in the Denver area and one in Los Angeles.
