More than 30,000 voters in Fishers will have a new polling location when they vote May 7 in the primary election, the Hamilton County Clerk’s Office announced Tuesday.
Thirty new polling places have been approved Hamilton County Commissioners, with most of the changes taking place in the Delaware-Fall Creek Township area.
All polling places previously located in schools have been moved to churches or neighborhood clubhouses in the district. Hamilton Southeastern Schools asked that polls in school buildings be moved due to security concerns.
“If you have previously voted in an HSE school, you can assume you have a new voting location this year,” Hamilton County Clerk Kathy Williams said in a written statement. “Bright yellow postcards are being mailed today notifying 31,000 voters of their new voting locations.”
