The Red Cross is assisting six families forced out of their apartments by fire. The Fishers Fire Department responded at about
9:45 Monday night to reports of a first-floor fire at the Deerbrook Apartments near Allisonville Road. They put it out, then
used thermal imaging and other tests to make sure it had been extinguished. They were called back at 11 p.m., however, after
the fire reoccurred. About half the apartments in the 16-unit building suffered fire and water damage.

Indianapolis police are searching for two men accused of trying to abduct an 11-year-old girl Tuesday morning. The girl said
she was waiting for the school bus near the Oaktree Apartments on Post Road near Pinehurst Drive just before 7 a.m. when a
dark van with two men inside approached her. The men yelled for her to get into the van, but she refused and used her cell
phone to call 911. She described the driver as a black man with twisties in his hair, and the passenger as a Hispanic man
with a gold tooth. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.

King Park Area Development Corp. is preparing to approach developers interested in submitting plans for the 1.8-acre site, the equivalent of about eight residential lots.
RPD Catalyst, a private equity investor based in Los Angeles, purchased Harbour Town Apartments and Condominiums, a 120-unit apartment community and newly completed 45-unit condominium building on Morse Reservoir, near Noblesville. The property includes a building pad that can accommodate another 45-unit condominium building. The exact sales price wasn’t disclosed but was less than $5 million. T. Scott Pollom Sr. of Colliers Turley Martin Tucker represented the buyer in the cash transaction. The seller was Fifth Third Bank.
J.C. Hart Co. is designing plans for a $17 million upscale apartment community as part of the master-planned Lawrence Village

Indianapolis firefighters battled a pair of fires Sunday night that displaced almost 20 residents. The first fire was reported just before 9 p.m. at Avalon Lake Apartments on the city’s northeast side. A male resident returned home from the store to find his apartment in flames; he had been heating grease on the stove. Three other apartments also were damaged, and nine residents of the apartment complex now are in temporary housing. The second fire call came in around 10:20 p.m. Sunday at a private residence on Indianapolis’ east side. A woman came back to her Dewey Street home after a Super Bowl party and found one of the bedrooms ablaze. Another woman who lives in the house says she left a candle burning and thinks one of her dogs knocked it over. The four adults and six children who live in the house were not home when the fire started, but two pit bulls died.
Indianapolis’ Metropolitan Development Commission sets $667,500 minimum price for the long-vacant property at Meridian and
32nd Streets.
A revitalization project that helped Indianapolis land the 2012 Super Bowl is beginning to take
shape. Organizers hope to build and rehab about 300 housing units, including the Jefferson Apartments "homeownership
incubator."
