Developer Kite to remake key corner in Carmel

Kite Realty Group Trust is planning a Rivers Edge-like overhaul of two shopping centers it owns at 116th Street and Rangeline Road in Carmel. The Indianapolis-based real estate firm already has landed new tenants, including a natural and organic grocery store and a handful of restaurants.

Fire damages downtown apartments

May 7, 2012

An apartment building under renovation in downtown Indianapolis caught fire Monday morning, causing an estimated $200,000 in damage. Firefighters were dispatched to the 23-unit Burton Building Apartments at 821 N. Pennsylvania St. at 6:42 a.m. No injuries were reported. A cause is being investigated. Partners in Housing typically uses the building to house U.S. military veterans who are at risk of being homeless. The building was slated to be filled with residents again in a month after renovations.
 

National Art Museum of Sport may leave Indianapolis

The National Art Museum of Sport is considering leaving Indianapolis, a possible move stemming from the planned conversion of its home at University Place Conference Center and Hotel into a student residence hall for IUPUI.

Firefighter hurt in home blaze

March 28, 2012

A firefighter suffered minor injuries Tuesday night while battling a Wayne Township house fire. The home, in the 4000 block of West Michigan Street, suffered extensive heat and smoke damage. Crews responded to the blaze at 10:30 p.m. and had it under control in about 15 minutes. No one was home at the time. Neighbors said the house was under renovation, and one witness said someone ran away from the scene just before the fire began.

Apartment developer snags historic Piccadilly Place

A group led by developer Christopher Piazza has acquired the Piccadilly Apartments at 28 E. 16th St. and is planning a renovation of the 1928 building.
