The Butler University campus was on lockdown Sunday for more than two hours after the armed robbery of a nearby pharmacy. Two men robbed the CVS store at 119 W. 56th St. about 11:30 a.m. and were spotted on the campus minutes later after abandoning their vehicle. Dallas Beard, 38, was arrested by Butler police but the other suspect escaped on foot. Police say the pair may have been involved in other CVS robberies in Plainfield, Greenfield and Mooresville.
A father is in jail Monday after crashing his car while drag-racing on a busy Indianapolis street, critically injuring his 2-year-old son. Valentin Duran, 25, was arrested after being treated at the hospital Saturday and faces numerous charges, including child neglect and reckless driving. His son, who was in the passenger seat without a car seat or seat belt, was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in critical condition. Duran was racing a black Mustang on Georgetown Road about 5:30 p.m. when he crashed into another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. Police are still looking for the black Mustang.
