A vacant house suffered major damage in an overnight fire on the south side of Indianapolis. The blaze, which broke out near Bradbury Avenue and Ringgold Avenue at 3:25 a.m. Friday, caused about $60,000 in damage. Investigators did not immediately know the cause.
An Indianapolis man stands accused of stabbing a woman while she was sleeping. Police were called to the 1400 block of East New York Street just after 4 a.m. Thursday, where they found 48-year-old Teresa Lebel suffering from a stab wound to her chest. She told them she was stabbed by 46-year-old Daryl Griffin, who had fled the scene. Lebel was taken to Wishard Hospital in critical condition. Griffin was later arrested.
Police say two tow truck drivers have been robbed at gunpoint this week on the north side of Indianapolis, likely by the same pair of men. In both incidents, the drivers were contacted to see if they wanted to buy scrap cars. The first incident occurred Tuesday in an alley near the 900 block of West 32nd Street. The second occurred Wednesday in an alley near Ethel Avenue. In both cases, the robbers got away with cash and items including a mobile phone.
