Indianapolis police tracked down a woman who fled the scene Monday morning after slamming into the back of a squad car on the south side of Indianapolis. A Boone County man faces felony charges of counterfeiting money following a five-day investigation. Mark Stein, 37, of Zionsville was arrested Friday after several items used to manufacture U.S. currency were found at his home in the 6700 block of Wimbledon Drive. Authorities with a search warrant also found counterfeit $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills at the residence. More arrests are possible in the case, authorities said.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the pace of mortgage loan applications increased 6.3 percent for the week ended Sept. 9, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. The rate for 30-year mortgages decreased to 4.17 percent from 4.23 percent the previous week. The rate for 15-year mortgages fell to 3.40 percent from 3.41 percent. The new rates are the lowest in the history of the Mortgage Bankers Association survey.
