Ceiling collapse injures woman

February 4, 2011

A woman was injured in her west-side Indianapolis home by falling debris early this morning when her bedroom ceiling collapsed. Sharon Jucha, 74, suffered bruises to her face and legs and was taken to Wishard Hospital. A relative said water had been leaking from the nearby kitchen ceiling the previous day.
 

Missing man sought in Lawrence

February 4, 2011

Lawrence police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 24-year-old man. Grant Holderman, who has a mental disability, has been missing since Jan. 30. He moved to Indiana from Pennsylvania in late December. His sister said he went for a walk but never returned. Holderman, who is 5-foot-11 and weighs 320 pounds, was last seen in the 8900 block of Brigadier Drive.

Counties going through salt fast

February 4, 2011

Central Indiana counties are burning through salt supplies and budgets due to frequent snow and ice storms. The Indiana Department of Transportation says it has enough to get through the rest of winter. Same thing for Marion County, which says it is restocking supplies as needed. Hendricks County started the season with 1,500 tons of salt and has used 85 percent. Madison County has used 85 percent, as well. In Hamilton County, officials say 60 percent of its supply has been used. Hancock County has used up 75 percent.

Earnings for the Indianapolis-based shopping mall owner increased to $217.9 million in the fourth quarter, up from $91.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2009. Funds from operations, a key measurement used by real estate investment trusts, also improved.
