Police say an Indianapolis man was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot in the neck outside a nightclub near Purdue University early Monday. West Lafayette Police Lt. Gary Sparger said officers called to break up fights at Nick’s Nightclub about 1:45 a.m. heard gunshots in the parking lot when they arrived. Antwain Harrison, 22, was found wounded and was taken to an Indianapolis hospital. Police say a special event at the nightclub had drawn a crowd mostly from Indianapolis. At least 50 people were outside when the shooting happened.
An early-morning water main break on the city’s west side created a mess for the Monday morning commute. Water was spilling onto 16th Street near Tibbs Avenue for hours. Crews shut down one lane of traffic, but frigid temperatures caused the water to freeze, creating slick spots drivers had to navigate around.
