Indianapolis police say a 7-year-old girl was shot Tuesday about 6:30 p.m. at a northwest-side apartment complex. The shooting took place in the 3900 block of Gateway Court, near 38th Street and North High School Road. The victim was listed in serious but stable condition. Several people were home at the time of the incident. Investigators don’t believe the shooting was a “random occurrence.”
An armed man wearing a ski mask escaped Wednesday morning after invading a home on the far-east side and trying to force a family of three to drive him to an ATM. The intruder entered the apartment in the 1800 block of Wellington Avenue, near Interstate 465 and 38th Street, at about 6:15. He forced the man, woman and 5-year-old boy into their car and told the woman to drive to an ATM. At a traffic light near I-465 and Pendleton Pike, the woman jumped out of the vehicle and flagged down a passing Lawrence police officer. The gunman left the car and ran from the scene.
