State shuts down Greenwood daycare

Dozens of frustrated parents gathered at White River Baptist Church in Greenwood on Wednesday night to learn more about the impending closing of the church’s daycare. Little Angels Daycare and Preschool was ordered closed by the Indiana Family & Social Services Administration. A state investigator said a church deacon, who had been banned from the property last year after being accused of improperly touching a 5-year-old girl, was found on the premises Jan. 30. Now, about 130 children have until Feb. 13 to find alternative child care.

 

Prosecutor to drop charges in deer rescue case

February 7, 2013

An Indiana prosecutor plans to drop charges of illegal possession of a white-tailed deer against a couple that nursed the animal back to health and kept it on their farm for two years. Decatur County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Douglas Brown said the charges against Connersville police officer Jeff Counceller and his wife, Jennifer, will be dropped by the end of the week. He said his office made the decision after receiving a request from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

 

Suspect arrested in Greenwood shooting

February 7, 2013

Plainfield police have arrested a suspect after the shooting of a 17-year-old male Wednesday at about 8 p.m. at the Saratoga Crossing Apartment Complex. Josiah Lawson, 19, is being held at the Hendricks County Jail in connection with the incident. Police say others may be involved. The victim is in stable condition.

Eli Lilly said it is halting testing of experimental drug tabalumab because the studies show the medicine is not effective. The company said it expects to take a $50 million charge in the first quarter related to the research expenses from the drug.
