Museum exhibit celebrates guitars

Autographed guitars from the Rolling Stones, the Eagles, Carlos Santana, Pearl Jam, Keith Urban and others will be auctioned off at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in Indianapolis during a March 8 preview of a new exhibit there. The show, "Guitars! Roundups to Rockers," explores the Western connections of guitars and guitarists. Guitars owned by Roy Rogers, Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams Sr. will be among than 130 instruments included in the exhibit, which opens March 9 and run through Aug. 4.

Shooting claims life near Lapel

January 29, 2013

Madison County police took a person into custody Tuesday morning after a fatal shooting near Lapel about 3 a.m. Authorities said they found the victim inside a home in the 6400 block of West County Road 300 South. The person they took into custody also was found in the home. No information on the identity or gender of the victim and the other person was released.

Dangerous weather predicted for area

Severe weather could hit central Indiana late Tuesday and early Wednesday, bringing high winds, heavy rain, lightning, flash floods and possibly hail. Winds as strong as 60 mph are possible. The rain-saturated soil and high winds could cause trees to topple, leading to power outages. Temperatures are expected to hit near-record highs in the mid-60s on Tuesday afternoon before sinking dramatically Wednesday. High, frigid winds and flurries are predicted Wednesday afternoon.
