Police say the pair  may be responsible for at least six burglaries or burglary attempts in Fishers this month. July 11, 2012

More than 300 federal and local law enforcement officers raided Indianapolis and Fort Wayne sites Wednesday that are tied to the Outlaws motorcycle gang and rounded up members to face charges that remained sealed. The U.S. attorney's office said in a statement that the operation was the largest federal takedown of alleged gang activity in Indianapolis history. Last year, a federal judge in Virginia sentenced the Outlaws national president to 20 years in prison on charges of racketeering and conspiracy to commit violence. Fourteen gang members from Indiana and Michigan pleaded guilty in 2009 to drugs and weapons charges.

“Treasure Hunt”

July 11, 2012

July 14

Indiana Landmarks Center/Morris-Butler House and environs

The treasure hunt of the title refers to the Old Northside neighborhood garage sales that will be popping up on Saturday. The reason that’s worth noting here is because these lawn blowouts round out an event focused on two of the area’s landmark buildings, which will be the hubs for live music, an antique and collectible market, building tours, games and more free (unless you buy something) events. Details here.

Tom Wopat

July 11, 2012

July 13-14

Cabaret at the Columbia Club

You’d think the fact that I have not seen a single episode of “The Dukes of Hazzard” would leave me with no interest in seeing one of its stars, Tom Wopat, in his appearance at the Cabaret. You’d be wrong. That’s because I’ve seen him give terrific performances on Broadway in “A Catered Affair,” “Annie Get Your Gun” and the grossly underrated “Catch Me If You Can.” The guy can act. The guy can sing. And I’m looking forward to not only seeing the show but conducting a live Q&A with him after the Friday show. Plan to stick around. Details here. .

For music, there’s Gladys Knight and ConFunkShun on stage July 20. For sports fans, there’s the “Saving Our Youth” Celebrity Basketball Game featuring Reggie Wayne, Antoine Bethea, Bonzi Wells, Dru Hill and more.
