Teen shot on west side

April 18, 2011

A 16-year-old male was shot in the lower back about 9 p.m. Saturday during a fight involving a large group of teens outside an Arby’s restaurant near the Georgetown Cinema and Lafayette Square Mall. Witnesses say one or two people may have been firing shots. The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital in good condition.

Woman shot to death; suspect on run

April 18, 2011

Indianapolis police are searching for a suspect in connection with the Monday morning shooting death of a 21-year-old woman at an apartment near West 79th Street and Harcourt Road. Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Chris Woods, who is believed to have taken off on foot. He is still believed to be armed. At least two children were removed from the home following the shooting. Westlane Middle School and Greenbriar Elementary School have been put on lockdown while police continue their search.
