Tornado causes injuries, damage in Bedford

At least a dozen people suffered minor injuries when a tornado touched down Wednesday night near Bedford, about 75 miles south of Indianapolis. The tornado and related storm left major damage in Lawrence County, including at least five demolished houses, downed power lines and uprooted trees.

Possible tornado injures 6 in trailer park

May 26, 2011

Six people, including two children, were injured Wednesday when a possible tornado tore through mobile home park near Bloomington. Two of the victims, a 13-year-old and 7-year-old, had to be cut from a mobile home at Van Buren mobile home park. None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. Bloomington authorities received more than 230 calls in the first hour of Wednesday night’s storm, with most calls related to downed trees and power lines.

Zionsville officer badly hurt in crash

A Zionsville police officer was critically injured after crashing into a barn at about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 6500 block of South State Road 267. Tom Henthorn, 28, was traveling west on County Road 650 South through the intersection of SR 267 before hitting the barn. First responders found Henthorn pinned in the vehicle and unresponsive. It took an hour to extricate him before he was taken to Methodist Hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Nordstrom: Weak sales prompting closure of Circle Centre store

Company President Erik Nordstrom said sales have fallen by half at the Circle Centre mall store since Nordstrom opened a Keystone Crossing location in 2008. The downtown store will close July 31.
