-On a seasonally adjusted basis, the pace of mortgage loan activity increased 13.2 percent for the week ended Feb. 18, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. The rate for 30-year mortgages decreased to 5 percent from 5.12 percent the previous week. The rate for 15-year mortgages decreased to 4.28 percent from 4.34 percent.

-Re/Max Metro has opened at 971 N. Delaware St., Suite A. The office is owned and operated by Monika Mueller.

-Cherryman Industries leased 135,000 square feet of industrial space at 6887 W. County Road 350 North, Greenfield. The tenant was represented by Stan Elser of Lee & Associates. The landlord, KTR Indiana LLC, represented itself.

-Adayana Inc. leased 28,442 square feet of office space at 3500 DePauw Blvd. The tenant was represented by Drew Augustin and Bryan Augustin of Alliance Commercial Real Estate. The landlord, CP Pyramids Associates LP, was represented by Dave Moore, Darrin Boyd and Bennett Williams of Cassidy Turley.

-Nancy's Bridal renewed its lease for 5,010 square feet of retail space at Clearwater Shoppes, 3800-3900 E. 82nd St. The landlord, The Broadbent Co., was represented by John Beuoy of Broadbent. The tenant represented itself.

-Envoy leased 3,751 square feet of office space at 6330 E. 75th St. The tenant was represented by Scott H. Lindenberg of Echelon Realty Advisors. The landlord, Metrocenter Office Park LLC, was represented by John Vandenbark of CB Richard Ellis.

Knight chosen for college hoops hall of fame

February 28, 2011

Bob Knight, who coached Indiana University to three national titles and had 902 wins in 41 seasons, is among eight members of the Class of 2011 of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. Also in the class announced Monday are coach Eddie Sutton, players James Worthy, Cazzie Russell and Chris Mullin and contributors Joe Vancisin and Eddie Einhorn. Induction will take place Nov. 20. Knight also coached at Army and Texas Tech and finished with the most wins of any men's coach in Division I.

Winds rip top off house

February 28, 2011

High winds, possibly from a tornado, tore the roof from a ranch-style home in southern Madison County, just west of the town of Ingalls, early Monday morning. The National Weather Service has offered no confirmation of a tornado touchdown, but is expected to survey the damage. No injuries were reported.

 

High waters strand motorists

February 28, 2011

Severe overnight storms caused numerous problems throughout central Indiana. Several area districts decided to delay school in order to let high waters subside. Ten cars had to be pulled from flood waters Monday morning in Indianapolis between New Church Boulevard and Washington Street. High water made it difficult for many school buses, including a Washington Township bus headed for North Central High School with 17 students on board that got stuck near 44th Street and Clover Drive. In Madison County, a bridge collapse near Frankton caused two vehicle accidents.

Bankruptcy filings ease slightly in Indiana

Total bankruptcy filings in the Southern District of Indiana, which encompasses Indianapolis and the surrounding counties, ticked down last year. Business bankruptcies in Indiana dropped 3.2 percent.
