Indianapolis police are investigating the firebombing of an officer’s home early Monday morning near Stop 11 and Railroad Road on the far south side. The homeowner, an IMPD officer, reported that someone had thrown a “firebomb” or “Molotov cocktail” through the rear window of his home. The officer, his wife and their two children escaped from the home unharmed. Damage was estimated at $100,000.
Republicans and Democrats on the City-County Council say they may be willing to compromise and work with together to review Indianapolis police policies and investigate the department's reaction after an officer fatally struck a motorcycle rider last month. Three proposals for overhauling department practices and/or probing its response to the incident will be introduced and referred to committee Monday night during the Council’s meeting.
Authorities are holding a woman on preliminary neglect charges stemming from the deaths of two children whose bodies were found Sunday night in an Indianapolis apartment complex on the southwest side. Ebyan Farah, 28, faces two preliminary counts of neglect in the deaths at Manchester Village Apartments. A police spokesman could not immediately say what Farah’s relation was to the children. The cause of their deaths has not been released, but officials say that the children appeared to be malnourished. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.
