East-side man robbed, killed

Indianapolis police are looking for two men who robbed and killed a 61-year-old man on near East 30th Street and Mitthoefer Road early Sunday morning. Police say Clayton Petrice, 61, had just returned to the Bavarian Village Apartments from work when he was shot and killed in a stairwell outside his front door just before 4 a.m. Witnesses saw two men get into a white SUV and leave the apartment complex.

Rape, robbery suspect arrested

Police have arrested Travis Reagle, 23, in connection with a robbery and rape investigation in Noblesville. He was taken into custody Tuesday morning at a nearby bank branch shortly after a woman reported she had been tied up, raped and robbed inside her apartment. Police said the incident happened at Greystone Apartments on 146th Street, near River Road. Reagle had debit and credit cards belonging to the victim when he was taken into custody, police say. He was charged with rape, robbery, criminal confinement, burglary and criminal deviate conduct.

-Jody Simmons bought the 56,000-square-foot Indy Southside Sports Academy complex at 4150 Kildeer Drive. The price wasn’t disclosed. The seller, Ceeco Associates, was represented by Keith Dedrick of Corporate Commercial Group. The buyer was self represented.

-Heart’s Landing LLC bought a 360-unit apartment complex at 9350 E. 43rd St. The price wasn’t disclosed. The buyer and seller, Sutton Place Apartments LP, were represented by Colin M. Atkinson of the local office of Marcus & Millichap and Robert Sheppard, Armand Tiberio and Spencer Hurst of the firm’s Seattle office.

Lawrence mother under arrest

A Lawrence mom was arrested Wednesday, accused of neglect of a dependent and public intoxication. According to police, 24-year-old Vashney Bushrod fell asleep in her car with her two sons, ages 5 and 1, for about seven hours. Officers found empty vodka bottles in the vehicle. They also said Bushrod ran into a fence when she tried to park at the Pinnacle Square Apartments while under the influence of alcohol.

The men's clothing chain Jos. A. Bank plans to open a new store at Meridian and Washington streets in a much-needed vote of confidence for street-level retail downtown.

Prostitution-ring bust nets 19 arrests

A band of brothers was charged Wednesday with running a prostitution ring with illegal immigrants who were promised freedom for working at the brothels. Authorities said a unit at Stratford Apartments on the west side of Indianapolis was one of at least six houses of prostitution in the metro area. The ring was run by three brothers and worked by bringing women to Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Michigan from Central America and South America. A total of 19 people were arrested. Federal authorities say more arrests in more states are possible.

East-side apartment complex facing foreclosure

One West Bank in California says it is owed nearly $3.3 million, and is seeking to foreclose on Red Mill Apartments near East 38th Street and North Franklin Road.

Stabbing victim in critical condition

Police are investigating a stabbing that critically injured a man Wednesday morning on the north side of Indianapolis. The man was stabbed several times in the arms, chest and buttocks during the incident at Cambridge Square Apartments in the 7200 block of Township Line Road. A suspect was taken into custody. Police have not released names of the suspect or victim, who was taken to St. Vincent Hospital.
 

Man shot to death on northeast side

May 2, 2011

Indianapolis police are investigating a weekend shooting that killed a 21-year-old man. Police responded to a report of a person shot at the Phoenix Apartments near East 42nd Street and Shadeland Avenue about 3 a.m. Saturday. They found Michael Lacy in the grass with multiple gunshot wounds. Detectives say Lacy was visiting a friend when he was approached by a group of people and they started fighting.

Police investigate officers’ actions

April 26, 2011

Investigators are looking into police behavior during a Saturday arrest caught on video by a resident of Tuscan Pointe apartments off Southport Road. In the video, which is available on Fox59.com, officers are dragging a handcuffed man down a flight of stairs. Police arrested 19-year-old Max Harper after he allegedly injured two paramedics and tried to punch a police officer. A neighbor said Harper appeared to be intoxicated and unable to stand, walk or talk.
